Day 7 - Love Believes the Best

Today's Verse: [Love] believes all things, hopes all things. – 1 Corinthians 13:7

Today's Message: There is good a bad in everyone. If you choose to focus on the bad, pretty soon that is all that you will see. If you choose to spend time thinking about the good stuff.. .then the bad stuff won't seem as evident.
When you first met your spouse, that's all you did… looked for things that you had in common, things that you both enjoyed, and things that you could do together. After you've been married for a while, that stuff seems old hat and you take it for granted. Or maybe some of your interests have changed.
That doesn't have to be a bad thing. You could probably learn how to share those things just as well. Or, you could renew your interests in the things that got you together anyway. You do have mutual interests, so why not enjoy them together.
Reviewing the things that you like about your spouse will help you remember some of those things.

Today's Questions:
  • Do you always believe the best about your spouse?
  • Do you sometimes take a negative route because you've 'been there and seen that?"
  • Have you ever considered that your spouse may be thinking those same thoughts about you?

Today's Dare:
For today’s dare, get two sheets of paper. On the first one, spend a few minutes writing out positive things about your spouse. Then do the same with negative things on the second sheet. Place both sheets in a secret place for another day. There is a different purpose and plan for each. At some point during the remainder of the day, pick a positive attribute from the first list and thank your spouse for having this characteristic.

Pros
  • THESE ARE PRIVATE LISTS
Cons
THESE ARE PRIVATE LISTS

Results:
  • Which list was easier to make?
    • Pros
  • What did this reveal about your thoughts?
    • I think mostly good things about her,
  • What attribute did you thank your spouse for having?
    • Private
If there is anything praiseworthy -- meditate on these things. (Philippians 4:8 NKJV)
