Day 2 - Love is Kind

Today's Verse:

Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.  Ephesians 4:32
Today's Message: The Readers Digest version of today's message is to be more understanding and compassionate towards the person you've chosen to spend the rest of your life here on Earth with. Work on being proactive and preventative in the relationship. It doesn't have to be anything really complicated either. It can be very simple. If you know she doesn't like it when you leave the seat up, then don't. That one act demonstrates both 'preventing' the confrontation and being 'proactive' in building a better relationship.
Today's Questions:
  • How about you?
  • How would your husband or wife describe you on the kindness meter? How harsh are you?
  • How gentle and helpful? Do you wait to be asked, or do you take the initiative to help? Don't wait for your spouse to be kind first.
Today's Dare:

In addition to saying nothing negative to your spouse again today, do at least one unexpected gesture as an act of kindness.
Results:
  • What discoveries about love did you make today?
    • It's easier than you'd think.
      • The simplest acts of kindness receive large rewards.
    • What specifically did you do in this dare? How did you show kindness?
      • For example, my wife hurt her foot at work today. She was limping, so I know it was bothering her. I asked her if she wanted some Motrin…she said yes, but that she would get it. I didn't wait…I got up and asked her 'how many'. She said 'Two' and thanked me. This was followed by a great big smile. This isn't the only time I've done anything like this, but it was the first time that I paid attention to her reaction. It was well worth the trip to the medicine cabinet and water dispenser.
What is desirable in a man is his kindness. (Proverbs 19:22)
